This is a great time to be alive

When someone tells you this is a great time to be alive it brings on a mix of emotions - like when you tell your school-age children that school days are the best in your life ("really, so it's all downhill from here?").

It doesn't feel like a great time, because we've got all kinds of changes going on in the world and the news is, let's face it, full of things to worry about.

Maybe it's like when you pull back an arrow in a bow, you feel the tension before you let go and the arrow leaps forward.
